Cashing in on your inheritance…

Updated: May 15, 2018

At Cassie’s Workshop we offer a furniture revamp service that includes restoration, painting techniques and effects, upholstery and even kitchen makeovers. We like to work with the interior of your home and plan your revamp to shine in that space.

We often hear from clients that they have been staring at a certain piece of furniture for 20 years that they inherited from Aunty Polly and they just DON’T like it anymore! So, this begs the question, when is it time to revamp? For some, the answer is quite straight forward. For others, it is not so simple.

So, a few pointers as to when it is time.

1. Do you like this piece of furniture?

2. Do you like the piece in its current finish?

3. Does it work well with the rest of the interior in that room?

If no to any of the above then it may be time.

We, and our parents come from an era where you bought or were gifted a lounge/dining suite when you got married and that was it for the next 60yrs. We also inherit much of our furniture from aunts, uncles, and grandparents. It is expensive when you start out in your first home or apartment so inherited pieces are needed and appreciated. However, it doesn’t have to stay that way!

Furniture is functional art; an expression of ourselves and our surroundings. It is not fixed, nor permanent and it should not be viewed as such.
